If you have been charged with a DUI, protecting your freedom, your future, and your driving privileges are most likely your chief concerns. However, dealing with DUI charges can also be very expensive, and for many, limiting the cost is just as important as anything else.
People commonly think that hiring a lawyer to represent you only adds to the cost of a DUI. We are proud to say that, more often than not, our clients actually save money by hiring us. How is this possible? Obviously, we can save you a lot of money if we are able to get the charges dismissed or reduced. But what a lot of people don't realize is that there are ways to save money regardless of the outcome. Here are three examples:
Insurance - One of the most expensive side effects of a DUI arrest is the increase in your insurance rates that can end up costing you thousands of dollars. However, these costs can be significantly reduced by obtaining an SR-22 certificate through an independent agency.
Bail - You may be released on your own recognizance or given a reasonably low bail at the time of your arrest, only to be taken back into custody at your arraignment because the judge has raised your bail (sometimes by tens of thousands of dollars). If we are retained prior to your arraignment, we can appear on your behalf and are usually able to prevent any increase in your bail.
Missed Work - Usually, dealing with DUI charges requires multiple court appearances, which for most people means having to take time off of work. Not only does this cost you income or vacation days, there's also the embarrassment of having to explain why you need the time off. In most DUI cases, we are able to appear on our clients' behalf, and there is no reason for them to miss any work.
